Heart and vessels
The cardiovascular system consists of the heart as the “engine room” and the blood vessels as the “transport system”. Both together ensure the supply of our body with nutrients and oxygen as well as the removal of waste products, such as carbon dioxide. Thus, a healthy heart is of crucial importance.
The heart is a small organ with a weight of about 300 to 400 g but with an unbelievable performance: with every beat of an adult heart, some 70 to 100 milliliters of blood – roughly comparable to half a coffee cup – are pumped through the vessels. The amount of blood pumped in a single day approximately equals the volume of a tank truck (6,000 to 8,000 liters). With an average of 70 beats per minute, this amounts to 36.8 million per year with more than 2.5 million liters of blood. Thus, our cardiovascular system is under heavy strain and delivers a top performance. A strong heart and healthy vessels are therefore very important. Diseases, such as heart failure or arteriosclerosis, impair not only our physical fitness and power, but also our quality of life and resilience.
Next to a healthy lifestyle and sports, the right diet also contributes to keeping our heart and vessels fit into old age and supporting the function of these organs.
In addition to drug therapy for cardiovascular diseases, complementary dietary treatment with the appropriate Orthomol products is also possible: Orthomol Cardio for the dietary management of cardiovascular diseases, such as arteriosclerosis and coronary heart disease, cardiac arrhythmia and heart failure.
